Abstract

The article shows the Metropolitan A. Sheptytskyy attitude to ideology of
Ukrainian socialists and communists in Western Ukraine. He was a national
leader, he defended the Christian priority, basic human values of partisans and
class interests. In the pastoral epistles in the interwar period A. Sheptytskyy
denounced totalitarian nature of communism subjected reasoned criticism of
communist policy, the Communist Party of Western Ukraine. Meanwhile,
Metropolitan has critical attitude towards the "left" socialist parties in the
Ukrainian national statehood camp - Ukrainian Socialist-Radical Party (USRP)
and the Ukrainian Social Democratic Party (USDP). In its turn, the Ukrainian
Socialists and Communists consistently opposed clericalism, initiated by A.
Sheptytskyy party - Ukrainian Catholic Union.
