Abstract

The article analyses Ukrainian scientific works and researches concerning the functioning of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church (UGCCh) Defense Committee. It determines main approaches to the characteristics of the activity, place and role of the committee's head I.Gel as well as his supporters and followers. The articles draws attention to the stages of development of the religious movement and to the forms its realization took, it also describes factors of the religious movement upheaval, which contributed greatly to the process of legalization of the UGCCh activity in Ukraine.
