Abstract

Ukrainian society is only now beginning to truly discover whole layers of European and world culture that have been artificially removed from the realm of spiritual life over the past seventy years. Anything that to some extent contradicted the theoretical foundations of official ideology was either outlawed altogether or ruthlessly falsified. At the same time, not only direct opponents of communist doctrine, but also numerous creators of spiritual values who lived long before the great communist experiment in the former "Soviet" empire came under a barrage of "debunking" criticism and condemnation.
Such creators of the spiritual foundations of European civilization include Thomas Aquinas - the great philosopher and theologian of the XIII century, a saint of the Ecumenical Church.
