Abstract

Proclaimed in 2002 by Supreme Archbishop Lubomyr Husar to achieve a patriarchal structure of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church, which was a natural act after a long struggle for its recognition, not only opened new prospects for its development, but also set a number of new requirements for the episcopate and clergy improvement and expansion of the administrative-canonical structure of the Church. One of the means of solving this problem was that the permanent Synods of Bishops of the UGCC recognized the formation of new dioceses within the Church, for which in 1996 a synodal commission of the territories of the new dioceses was even established.
