Abstract

The study of any historical process or event is carried out on the basis of identified historical sources. The latter, as the domestic historian S. Pavlenko notes, not only "contain historical facts", but are themselves "historical facts, and their appearance was an important event ...". This statement also applies to research on the history of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church. Of course, over the last decade the source base on the main problems of the historical development of the UGCC (from the Brest Union in 1596 to the "catacomb period" of 1946-1989) has been significantly enriched, largely due to research work of the Institute of Church History at the Lviv Theological Academy. Catholic University).
