Abstract

The principle of so-called "assistance" is one of the six proposed by the Members of the Commission in 1974 in plenary1. In their opinion, it should be preserved in the new Code. It should contain only those laws which, in the opinion of the highest pastor of the whole Church, should be considered common to all the Eastern Catholic Churches, giving everything else to the particular right of the Churches suis iuris.
