Abstract

In the article highlights the key role of Greek Catholic clergy in the Ukrainian national revival in Galicia first half of the nineteenth century. That initially, the "Spring of Nations" 1848-1849., Is characterized by the development of ethnology as a science in the fields of linguistics, history, folklore. Ethnology activities priests promoted crystallization Ukrainian national consciousness among the Galician-Ruthenian population, the idea of national unity (catholicity) Ukraine.
