The article analyzes the origins and state of development of the environmental affairs in Galicia, the participation of the Greek Catholic Church in its development during the 1920s - 1930s. The author substantiates the thesis that the nature protection activities of the GCC were part of the national renaissance of Ukrainians in Galicia.
