Abstract

There is a lot of discussion among Eastern canon law, theologians and clergy of the UGCC about the decisions and resolutions of the Synod of Zamość in 1720. Some argue that the Synod of Zamość is a "Roman" document that only fits the ideological matrix of the Code of Canons of the Eastern Churches. Other experts claim that, in response to the needs of the eighteenth century, the Zamoysky Synod saved the rite and became the legal basis for the development and salvation of the Kyivan Church.
