Abstract

Regarding the complexity and richness of human nature, man is defined differently: he is animal rationale (intelligent being), animal sociale (social being), homo faber (man-worker), homo technicus (technical man), homo religiosus (religious man), ens cogitans (thinking being), ens amans (loving being), etc. The term "being", "intelligent animal" is an attempt at a general definition of human nature, other definitions emphasize certain aspects or elements of man. Some of them define human nature in the natural-immanent dimension, others point to the absolutely transcendental profile of humanity.

In this paper, we try to emphasize the fact that Christianity, analyzing the holistic (integral) concept of man, recognizes it as both an immanent and a transcendent being in relation to the material world.
