The Historical dasis and modern mechanisms of proclamation of saints in the UGCC

The study focuses on how ancient Kyivan Christian traditions, the experience of martyrdom, as well as regulatory documents of the Apostolic See influenced the formation of the modern system of beatification and canonization in the UGCC. The role of historical memory and spiritual heritage of the 20th century, which became decisive in the process of modern church recognition of holiness, is separately considered. Sources of church law, Vatican documents, archival materials and works of modern researchers were used. A new vision of the interaction of the Eastern Christian spiritual tradition and Roman canon law is also proposed, which determined the current model of the proclamation of saints.
