Abstract

Leading figures from the glorious cohort of the clergy of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church - a powerful factor in the national revival - in the absence of independent science in Galicia have repeatedly joined in solving scientific problems. The role of Greek Catholic priests in the search for the location of Prince Halych and in the study of its history is especially significant. Markiyan Shashkevych, Rudolf Mokh, Anton Mohylnytsky, Anton Petrushevych, Lev Lavretsky, who lived and created national science in the 19th century, devoted their works to the study of this complex node of historical and archaeological issues.
