Abstract

Thanks to church archeology, historical science, art history, and religious studies receive the largest number of material sources that complement our knowledge of the monumental temple construction of Ukrainian antiquity, the iconography of contemporary churches (altar partitions, frescoes, mosaics), ornamental carvings, and ornamental carvings. -applied art (sarcophagi, bowls, choirs, candlesticks, tiaras, bells, crosses, crosses, encolpions, stone and metal icons, etc.).

At the beginning of the twentieth century, when archeological science was not yet completely separated from art history, ecclesiastical archeology, not having a sufficient body of material sources, focused its attention on the entire temple infrastructure, which had historical and artistic value.
