Abstract

Many titles are associated with the name of Hilarion, Metropolitan of the Russian land in the middle of the XI century, which are characterized by primacy in the history of Kievan Rus.

Hilarion was the first Kyiv metropolitan of the Rus' glades, Ukrainians of the Middle Ages. He was the first to consecrate Sophia of Kyiv - the Christian greatness and sanctuary of Ukraine-Russia. He was the first hermit on the site where the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra is now located, that is, he was the first to start it by digging a cave for himself.
