The article analyses point of view as a narrative technique in interpreting the behaviour of various characters in the narrative passage from the Gospel of John 11:17–12:11. This passage frames the transformation of the fourth journey of the Word in the flesh (John 10:40–12:50), where Jesus is the main character, whose point of view is the leading thread of the entire storyline. The article analyses several aspects of the characters' behaviour to gain a deeper insight into their inner world, allowing the narrator to present certain belief systems that the reader is called upon to reject or accept. The article demonstrates where the narrator's point of view or that of Jesus as the main character merges with the position of one character or another, and where it contrasts, prompting the reader to assimilate certain theological truths.
